Privacy policy

Last updated October 21, 2026. CountdownGIF is provided by WAY LABS LLC (“we”, “us”).

The short version

We collect what we need to run your account and draw your timers. We do not track the people who open your emails, we do not sell data, and we do not use advertising cookies.

If you have an account

• Your name and email address, and your password stored only as a one-way hash.
• If you sign in with Google: your Google account’s name, email address and profile picture. We ask Google for nothing else.
• For each signed-in session: the IP address and browser it came from, so you and we can spot a sign-in you do not recognize.
• Your team, teammates, timers, image domain and API keys (we keep only a hash of each API secret).

If you make a timer without an account

We store the timer’s settings and a hash of its private edit key. To limit abuse we count how many timers each IP address makes per hour, in memory only; the address itself is never written down.

The people who open your emails

When an email loads a timer image, we count one open for that timer and day. That count is all we keep: no IP address, no email address, no device or location data about the reader.

How we use it and who else sees it

We use this information only to provide CountdownGIF: signing you in, drawing timers, showing your open counts and contacting you about your account. It is processed by the services that run CountdownGIF: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Google (if you sign in with Google) and our email provider (sign-in and account emails). We share it with anyone else only if the law requires it.

Cookies

We set one cookie when you sign in, to keep you signed in. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.

Keeping and deleting it

We keep your account data while your account is open. Email us and we will delete your account and its timers; timer images already sent in emails then stop showing a countdown.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date above, and tell account holders by email about any significant change.
